Introduction

Depending on the configuration of the Windows VISTA, it may happen that a not restricted user is not able to start the P2 SAFE driver’s application. This happens when this user’s account is configured with the “User account control” option enabled. In that case the following dialog box is displayed:

Two solutions can be used to enable the user to execute the application: “Run as administrator" and "Turn off user account control".

Run as administrator

From the contextual menu (i.e. mouse right click on the application’s icon), it is possible to run the application with the administration permission with the menu option “Run as administrator”,

Turn off account control

Although it is not recommended, it is also possible to completely disable the “User Account control” (UAC). To do so, open the control panel and double click on the “User Accounts” icon.

Then select the user account you want to modify and click on the link “Turn User Account Control on or off”.

A dialog box indicating the current state of the user’s UAC. Uncheck the option “Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your compute” and click on the “OK” button.

Once the UAC option is disabled, the corresponding user will be able to run any applications with the administration permissions.

N.B.: The UAC option enables Windows to protect the computer against viruses like Trojans. Be careful about the applications you will run without the UAC. You have to trust the application’s provider.
