External speakers not working
Summary:
External speakers not working.
To function properly, LaCie USB and FireWire speakers need the computer to recognize them as a potential audio output device. In many cases, this does not happen automatically, this setting must be specified manually.
Windows:
To begin, click Start, then choose Control Panel. In the window that appears, choose "Sounds and Audio Devices." This opens a window called "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties." The new window has several tabs along the top. Click the "Audio" tab. The first option is called Default Device. The FireWire or USB speakers will be here. Choose the speakers, then click "OK."

Macintosh:
Audio settings on the Macintosh are located within System Preferences. Click the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the screen, then choose "System Preferences..." Click the "Sound" option. Finally, choose the external speakers from the menu.
