Multipathing: Performance and Redundancy
Multipathing technology combines both failover and aggregated link throughput. It works with a dual RAID controller Fibre Channel storage solution and a host adapter card with a dedicated multipathing driver. Both controllers can aggregate performance across multiple Fibre Channel connections to the storage—effectively doubling throughput. Also, the driver detects if a controller fails or if a Fibre Channel cable is unplugged, and reroutes the signal through the working controller. The controller is also hot-swappable so you can replace it on the fly. Multipathing technology brings performance as well as reliability, reducing downtime and insuring continuous workflow with maximum performance.
LaCie and ATTO
While LaCie has already developed multipathing drivers for Linux and Windows for many high-performance Fibre Channel cards, they have now partnered with ATTO to create a custom multipathing driver for Macintosh. The ATTO Celerity 8Gb/s is a highly reliable host bus adapter and features an intuitive GUI for advanced troubleshooting and performance-tuning. Purchase the ATTO Celerity from LaCie for a fully redundant Fibre Channel solution, as well as access to 12big premium local support** to help you maximize performance.
12big Rack Fibre 8
The 12big Rack Fibre 8 features near-silent operation and high-performance throughput combined with Enterprise-Class components. Use the ATTO Celerity Fibre Channel card together with the dedicated LaCie multipathing driver to achieve 1280MB/s with 12 drives*** only or 2100MB/s with one expansion chassis.
