Windows Server 2003 or Vista report 'Bad Blocks' in Event Viewer
Windows Server 2003 and Windows Vista have an advanced error detection system compared to other operating systems. In some cases, the "Bad Blocks" error appears spuriously, so troubleshooting is appropriate.
If the message is incorrect, it is usually due to a bad data cable. Change the USB or FireWire cable in use to see if the problem remains.
Another cause is a physical problem with the ports in use. Move the drive to a different computer.
If that doesn't solve the problem, try to use a different LaCie power supply (if possible.)
