03 November 2009
- Centralize, share and back up files at home
- Easy setup and usage
- Access and download files, even with the computer turned off
- Create private accounts for everyone in the household
- Stream files to UPnP/DLNA-compatible players
The Network Space 2 is designed for ultimate usability with simple setup. LaCie’s innovative Welcome Experience and a widget-organized web interface makes configuration and administration user-friendly and rapid.
This product comes in 1 or 2TB (Terabytes)* capacities and offers multiple ways to access media. Either copy files via Hi-Speed USB 2.0 or use the included LaCie Network Assistant, which facilitates access to the shares through the Gigabit** network connection. What’s more, files stored on the drive are fully accessible – even when the host computer is switched off.
Featuring a media server, the Network Space 2 makes it easy to stream files from any computer on the local network or any UPnP/DLNA compliant device (such as a PlayStation®3 or Xbox®). Networked computers can access the iTunes® library or stored photos and everyone can stream music or videos from a networked UPnP™ AV player or adapter.
The additional USB 2.0 host port, located on the front of the unit, allows users to connect a USB flash drive, hard drive or digital camera to import files automatically without the need for a computer to be powered on.
"The Network Space 2 is a simple, out of the box solution for customers wanting to share and store media files from anywhere in the house," said Patrick Salin, LaCie Digital Home Business Unit Manager. "Whether a customer wants to centralize family photos, back up multiple computers or access music files using iTunes on the network, this device is a perfect connected storage solution for local use."
Designed exclusively for LaCie by Neil Poulton, the compact LaCie Network Space 2 has a sleek, mirror-polished black finish with a blue LED strip on its underside that creates an ambient glow. Its fanless design helps it to be more environmentally friendly and more efficient in its power usage.
Approximately, 1TB of capacity can hold 300,000 photos, 300,000 songs, or 1400 movies***.
