LaCie releases firmware updates periodically for the LaCinema Premier. Frequently, these solve known bugs, and add additional functionality. To update the firmware, follow the procedure below :
Download the latest firmware update from http://www.lacie.com. Firmware updates are within compressed .zip files, so decompress the file to continue.
Within the compressed file will be one, or several update files. If there are multiple files, look for any special instructions included with the firmware updates (special instructions may say which file must be installed first, additional updates, etc.)
Connect the LaCinema the computer with the update files.
There must be a folder called "UPDATE" on the root of the drive. Windows:For example, if the LaCinema drive letter is D:, there must be a folder with the path D:\UPDATE. That folder must contain the update file(s) Macintosh:When the drive's desktop icon is opened, a folder named "UPDATE" must be visible immediately, without a need to double-click anything else.
Copy the update file(s) into the UPDATE directory.
Disconnect the drive from the computer, and connect it to a television. Use the "Browser" option from the main menu to go to the UPDATE folder. Highlight the update file (or the first update file if there are several), then press the OK button on the remote.
NOTE: It is very important the update process itself is not interrupted. Interruptions or power-loss during a firmware update will damage the drive
