Color Management

In a color-managed workflow, each and every color reproduction device (most commonly - computer displays, scanners, cameras, and printers) is calibrated and profiled. Calibration is the process of adjusting the device to a standard behavior. Profiling is the precise measurement of this behavior. The combination of both of these steps ensures that colors are reproduced as accurately as possible on a device.

To properly perform calibration and profiling, dedicated measurement devices (such as the LaCie blue eye colorimeter) and software tools are required. With our professional line of displays and calibration tools, LaCie strives to provide an industry-leading color management solution for your workstation that combines the performance and expert features required by professionals, yet remains simple enough for non-experts to use.

The following White Papers explore some of the physical, mathematical and technological underpinnings of color management.
