LaCie is launching its portable multimedia disk, the LaCinema Rugged, a disk that you can hold in the palm of your hand and can contain 250 Gbytes to 500 Gbytes of music, films and photos.
A first on the market, the only multimedia disk equipped with HDMI connection, the high definition connector par excellence. Films can be played in HDMI 480p, 720p and 1080i format, just like in the cinema
It is clearly compatible with the most commonly used video formats, i.e. MPEG-2 (AVI, VOB, ISO, ..) on MPEG-4 (XviD) and the subtitle formats (SRT, SUB, SMI & SSA). Any new Codec can be updated.
It will be available from November from 179€ all taxes included (250GB version). Supplied with remote control and all accessories for immediate use.

LaCie 5big Network: 5 good reasons for saving the network data
LaCie is launching the LaCie 5big Network, an Ethernet Gigabit storage system. Equipped with 5 disks to provide a total storage capacity of 2.5 to 7.5 Tbytes, it provides a modular and secure solution for saving data with its RAID modes, including RAID 5 and 6 with increased tolerance to breakdown.
The LaCie 5big Network supports central management of data for the PME’s for up to 25 users. The Active Directory facilitates the implementation of the system within your business and it is configured to require a range of possibilities without requiring any detailed technical knowledge. It comes with three client licenses for Genie Backup Manager Pro™ for Windows and three licenses for Intego Backup Manager Pro™ for Mac.
The case designed by Neil Poulton is worthy of the LaCie tradition of good design. But it is much more than a beautiful object. A lot of attention has been paid to the ergonomics.
In fact any multi-disk storage solution requires excellent ventilation to extract the heat generated by the disks. To achieve this, LaCie has opted for a Noctua NF-P12 fan, which is well-known for its high performance and quiet-running.
In RAID 5 mode and in a Gigabit network, the LaCie 5big Network reaches speeds of 10 Mbyte/s, which is fast enough to process Office documents and little multimedia files. The LaCie 5big Network reaches a minimum speed of 20 Mbyte/s when reading.

LaCie ONE YEAR Online Backup : Free and unlimited online backup!  What is LaCie ONE YEAR Online Back? It's the old story of “having your cake and eating it”. By buying a LaCie disk the user will receive an open-ended free online backup service.Internet backup is nothing new, but the LaCie offer is set apart by its duratoin (1 year, that’s better than a month) and above all by the absence of a usage platform.
To realize this, LaCie selected Carbonite, one of the leaders in the sector. This company has already backed up 9 Petabytes (9 billion Gigabytes) since it was established in 2006, and each day saves 60 million new files.
Carbonite performs the backup automatically and discretely: whenever the computer is unoccupied, the backup is automatically initiated. The data is well protected by encryption, a system used for internet purchases or bank transactions of the type "pc banking".
