Video quality appears degraded, or is 'rolling' on screen
Most televisions are designed to display information in only one of many standards. LaCie multimedia drives are capable of several standards--including those unsupported by many televisions.
As an example, if the drive is set to display video in the PAL format, and it is placed on an American television, the video will appear to roll from the bottom to top repeatedly, and can not be viewed.
The remote control has an orange button labeled TV OUT (a lower case "i" on the LaCinema Rugged.) that changes the display mode. Aim the remote at the front of the drive, and press the button. If the video does not display correctly, wait a few seconds, then press it again. Eventually, it will find a standard the television supports.
