The shortcut button does not work properly.
Most problems with the shortcut button can be resolved by reinstalling the software. The shortcut button uses a system preferences preference pane to work. Some system changes can break this preference pane. Follow the procedure below to do this:
Begin by opening System Preferences by clicking the Apple logo in the upper left corner of the display. Choose "System Preferences..." from the menu. Remove the broken shortcut button preference pane by ctrl-clicking (hold down the [ctrl] button on the keyboard, then click) its icon, and choosing the option to "Remove 'LaCie Shortcut Button' Preference Pane".
