LaCie Partners With Group Logic to Integrate ExtremeZ-IP Mac Network Software in Ethernet Disk
July 12, 2005
LaCie today announces a partnership with Group Logic, developer of best-selling network workflow software, to integrate ExtremeZ-IP v4.0.5 File Server software into the LaCie Ethernet Disk for increased Macintosh file sharing support. ExtremeZ-IP is the first and only Windows-based file server that fully supports Mac OS X—a "must have" for cross-platform networks. Combined with ExtremeZ-IP, LaCie Ethernet Disk offers the best performance, compatibility, ease of use, and reliability of any network attached storage for small and medium businesses on the market.
“We are pleased that LaCie recognizes Group Logic’s ExtremeZ-IP as the best-in-class solution by selecting ExtremeZ-IP to deliver Mac OS X file sharing capabilities to the LaCie Ethernet Disk product line,” says Reid Lewis, CEO of Group Logic. “The bundling of ExtremeZ-IP with LaCie’s industry leading NAS products is a win-win for customers seeking a seamless and trusted solution for insuring connectivity between their Macintosh clients and the sleekly designed, high performance LaCie Ethernet Disk.”
“LaCie’s customer base is largely comprised of Mac users and we respect that heritage by offering more diversity in our Ethernet Disk with ExtremeZ-IP,” says Marie Renouard, LaCie Product Manager. “We know small business owners work on many platforms and wanted to provide the Mac support people have come to know and expect from LaCie. With this latest Ethernet Disk update, we offer the most flexible cross-platform networking solution on the market.”
ExtremeZ-IP File Server offers support for Apple's latest version of the Apple file sharing protocol, AFP v3.1, as well as all the important new Mac OS X features including support for long file names, file sizes over 2GB on the server, immediate start-up and true compatibility between Mac OS 9 and Mac OS X files.
LaCie Ethernet Disk offers instant shared storage of up to 1TB without the need for extensive IT knowledge. Administrators have the ability to fully customize user access controls from any computer on the network through a user-friendly web management tool. Files can be accessed via the local network or from a distance over the Internet via HTTP and FTP. Combined with ExtremeZ-IP, LaCie Ethernet Disk is the premiere choice for small businesses working across Mac, Windows, UNIX and/or Linux platforms.
