I am unable to stream my music and movies
Each LaCie NAS device, except the windows based models, include a built in Twonky server instance that supports DLNA streaming.
This service can be used to stream music, pictures and movies to any compatible device. If you have not already started the server and designated folders for it to use to stream, please visit your device's dashboard and do so. Instructions for setting up and configuring the DLNA service are found in the device manual.
If you have already configured the server and are still not able to stream media, check the following:
- Does the playback device (PS3, Computer, iTunes) support the file types you're attempting to view? In cases where the file type is incompatible you may see the server but no files, or a list of "unsupported file type" messages. If this is the case, check with the playback device's support for more information on what types of files it can play.
- Does your network router or server allow UPnP traffic? If not, you will not be able to use a DLNA service. UPnP is required for your NAS to stream data to other devices. Some routers require that you manually enable this service in its configuration. Please visit your routers support or device manual for more information on enabling UPnP.
- If some devices see the stream and can play back but other devices cannot, ensure that the devices which cannot are using the same network pool or have network connectivity. In some cases, a wireless/wired router will assign different IP addresses to a wireless device than it does to a wired. If your NAS is wired and all your computers and playback are wireless: its possible they're on different networks.
