A Truly User-Friendly Interface
The LaCie NAS OS 2.0 represents a significant update to its line of network-attached storage (NAS) devices**. It features a simplified graphical user interface, the Dashboard, and new advanced
features such as storage expansion with automated RAID migration and a robust backup system. This new operating system already powers new LaCie NAS, and existing customers can upgrade their NAS free of charge.

The LaCie NAS OS 2.0 Dashboard offers unprecedented ease of use and a quick learning curve, even for NAS novices.

Its customizable, widget-based navigation system lets you focus on the tasks you use most, and minimize those you don't.

Step-by-step wizards with helpful presets simplify such tasks as RAID management and backups, letting even non-technical users accomplish advanced networking tasks.

NAS OS 2.0 even seamlessly negotiates the remote connection through your router, so you, your partners, or your clients can securely access your projects using the integrated file browser.
Seamless Integration into Multi-Platform Environments
With support for Mac, PC, and Linux systems and Active Directory, LaCie products running NAS OS 2.0 integrate effortlessly into any existing mixed-architecture network. It is even fully compatible with Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion). A single NAS is therefore an excellent solution for the entire office, even if your sales force works on PCs and graphic design team uses Macs.
What's more, the included LaCie Network Assistant gives all client computers simple shortcuts to the NAS' shares, as well as to the Dashboard. You can quickly identify and access any LaCie NAS connected to your network from a single window. It enables you to perform basic troubleshooting tasks such as updating the NAS operating system, configuring its IP address, and performing wake on LAN.
Optimized Capacity and Non-Stop Data Security*
LaCie NAS OS 2.0 also features an exciting new RAID management system that lets you easily control the addition of new disks, so your storage capacity can grow with your needs. The automatic RAID level function*** chooses the RAID mode most optimized for data security and storage capacity depending on the number of available disks. This allows you to expand from one disk to several without data
loss or needing to worry about the best RAID mode. What's more, for supreme convenience, adding a new disk to the array is as easy as a single click. You can even assign a new disk as a hot spare, so if your array suffers a disk failure, the spare will be integrated into the array automatically for continuous data availability and protection. If you need custom control, it is still possible to choose a RAID mode manually to optimize either security or capacity.
Professional and Intuitive Backup Engine
This new operating system features a major overhaul of the NAS OS backup engine, letting you schedule automated backups to and from any computer or USB/eSATA external hard drives. Use the Dashboard to create individual backup jobs tailored to each of your storage devices and centrally manage them from your LaCie NAS. For DAS jobs, you can elect to have the backup job run automatically when
the drive is connected, and then unmounted when the backup job has completed. The backup engine also supports PC-to-NAS backups from any computer on the network onto a local share. You can choose from full backup or incremental schemes to optimize either capacity or security. It even saves multiple versions of files, so reverting to a past version is as easy as following a simple restore wizard.
Smarter Energy Use

The LaCie NAS OS 2.0 helps you to reduce your NAS' power consumption by letting you control its energy usage. From the Dashboard, you can schedule shut down/restart, even depending on the day of the week. So you can configure your NAS, for example, to power on at 6:00 am and off at 7:00pm on Monday through Friday, and stay off all weekend. You can even set the disks to spin down after a certain period of time, ensuring that minimum power is required when no one is accessing the NAS. It also supports wake on LAN protocol, so even if your NAS is asleep and conserving energy, you can easily wake it up from your computer without needing to be physically next to the NAS.
Full-Featured Media Server
You can even turn your LaCie NAS into a robust media server since it supports UPnP®/DLNA® protocols. LaCie NAS OS 2.0 gives you an easy way to stream media to compatible playback devices on your network such as a PlayStation®3, Xbox 360®, network TV, or LaCinema Classic HD. You can even use certain mobile devices (ie Android™ or iPhone™) as a remote to control playback▲. LaCie NAS OS 2.0 also lets you store music files on the NAS and play them back on any Windows Media Player or iTunes® client on the network.
